Fresh juice at home, from a quick glass before work to a jug for the weekend: four juicers compared, two that spin and two that press.
There are two ways a juicer gets the juice out. A centrifugal juicer, like the Philips and the Nutribullet, shreds fruit and veg against a fast-spinning sieve: it’s quick and costs less. A cold press juicer, like the Fretta and the Ninja, squeezes it with a slow-turning screw called an auger instead: slower, quieter, and with a reverse button for anything that jams. Its lower wattage isn’t a weakness, since the auger turns slowly by design.
Then check the chute, because the wider it is, the less chopping comes first: from the Philips’s 55mm tube to the Fretta’s 108mm hopper, which takes whole fruit. And think about the washing up, since a juicer that’s a chore to clean tends to stay in the cupboard: three of the four have dishwasher-safe parts, and three come with a brush for the sieve or filter.
