Measure a room in seconds, from one side, without anyone holding the other end of the tape.
A laser measure is one of those gadgets that makes a job genuinely quicker: point it at the far wall, press a button and read the distance. Most also work out area and volume, handy for carpet, paint and heaters.
For home use, 20–50m of range is more than enough. Accuracy of a few millimetres is standard; what differs is how easy they are to use and whether they do the sums for you.
