Come home to clean floors: the robot vacuums worth having, from a simple daily runabout to docks that empty the bin and wash the mops for you.
The first Roomba went on sale in 2002, and robot vacuums have gone from novelty to the easiest way to keep on top of crumbs, dust and pet hair between proper cleans. Set one off as you leave for work and the floors are done by the time you're back.
The big choice is the dock. A basic robot charges on a small base and you empty its bin; a self-emptying dock does that for weeks, and the mopping stations wash and dry the mop pads too. LiDAR, a spinning laser, maps the house so you can send it to one room or fence off the dog bowls, while cheaper robots clean without a map.
What matters
