A Switch carrying case zips around the console, with slots for game cards and, on most, room for a cable or spare Joy-Con. Slim cases hold the console and a handful of games; an all-in-one also carries the dock and charger, for playing on someone else’s TV.

The Switch 2, on sale since June 5, 2025, has a 7.9-inch screen, bigger than the 6.2-inch original Switch and the 7-inch OLED, so a case cut for one rarely fits another, and the smaller Switch Lite needs its own size too. Some cases here come in more than one size, and Game Traveler’s deluxe case takes the original, the OLED and the Switch 2.

What matters

  • A padded flap or cover between the screen and the lid.
  • Enough game-card slots, plus a spot for microSD cards.
  • A hard shell, for a bag that gets thrown around.
  • Official Nintendo licensing, if that matters to you.

One case for whichever Switch you own: Game Traveler’s officially licensed deluxe case takes the original Switch, the OLED and the Switch 2. A library inside holds 12 game cards, and two little cases keep four microSD cards from going astray.

What owners say: Owners praise the quality and say it travels well, with space for controllers as well as games. The hard shell shields the console from knocks, they find, and the price strikes them as fair.

A closer look: The console drops into a recessed insert, and the game-card library sits above it, guarding the screen and thumbsticks once the lid zips shut. A soft cleaning cloth comes in the box, handy for wiping the screen before packing up. Because the one case fits all three models, a household that moves up to a Switch 2 can keep using it.

  • Recessed console insert
  • Guards screen and thumbsticks
  • Cleaning cloth included
  • Carry handle
  • 2-year limited warranty

Best for: Any Switch, original to Switch 2

#2PowerA Slim Case for Nintendo Switch 2

A thin, low-profile case for the Switch 2, officially licensed and tested by Nintendo for fit. Inside, a built-in play stand folds out for tabletop play and doubles as a padded cover over the screen when the console is zipped away.

What owners say: Owners say their Switch 2 fits it exactly and the slim shape doesn’t bulk up a bag. They find it sturdy and protective and say it looks even better in person than in the pictures.

A closer look: Set the open case on a tray table or desk, fold out the stand and play in tabletop mode with the Joy-Con detached, then fold it back over the screen to pack up. The molded interior holds the console steady, and the low profile suits a school bag or a small backpack where a deeper case would take up too much room.

  • Stand doubles as screen pad
  • Low profile for school bags
  • Soft fabric lining
  • 2-year limited warranty

Best for: Tray tables and slim school bags

Built around the Switch 2 with a shaped base, four support grooves and a hook-and-loop strap, it holds 24 game cards, the most of any case here. An upper zippered mesh pocket takes a charger, a cable and earbuds.

What owners say: Owners call it well made and sturdy, with plenty of room for games and accessories, a spare pair of Joy-Con included. They like the protective flap over the screen and how easily it travels, and they’re happy with what it costs.

Heads up: This version fits the Switch 2 only, not the original Switch, OLED or Lite. For the original and OLED, daydayup sells a version with 20 game slots.

A closer look: Fasten the strap across the console before zipping up so it can’t shift, and lift it out by the pull tab rather than prying at the Joy-Con. With the card divider closed over it, the screen and controls stay off the lid, and the nylon zipper pulls keep metal away from the screen as they pass.

  • Hook-and-loop console strap
  • Pull tab lifts console out
  • Nylon zips spare the screen
  • Top carry handle

#4Orzly Carrying Case for Nintendo Switch 2

$20–$30

9.5/10Picked Rating

Orzly makes this case in a size for every model, each cut to fit: the Switch 2, the original Switch and OLED, and the Switch Lite. The Switch 2 version holds 20 game cards and two microSD cards, with a large top pocket for spare Joy-Con, a power bank or cables.

What owners say: Owners find it tough and protective, especially over the screen, and easy to take on trips. They like the design, the room it has for games and the price.

A closer look: Choose the size for your console on the listing before ordering, since each version is cut for one screen size. The smaller zippered pocket is the place for thumb grips and microSD cards, and the EVA shell wipes clean with a damp cloth when it picks up marks in a backpack.

  • Hard shell wipes clean
  • Microfiber screen cover
  • Holds 2 microSD cards
  • Dual zips, rubberized handle
  • One-year replacement warranty

A bigger case for taking the whole setup: grooves inside hold the Switch 2, an extra pair of Joy-Con or a Pro Controller, the dock, the Joy-Con charging grip and the AC adapter, plus 20 game cards. It makes playing on a TV away from home easy, and iVoler sells a Switch and OLED version too.

What owners say: Owners say it’s solidly made and roomy, with a compartment for each piece of the setup, controllers included. It carries comfortably, they say, and they trust it to keep the console safe from drops and falls.

A closer look: Pack the dock and adapter in their own grooves so the pieces can’t scratch each other, and coil the HDMI cable into the mesh pocket. At about 14 by 10 by 6 inches it’s a small bag in its own right, so it travels best by its handle or in a suitcase rather than a school backpack.

  • Fits the Joy-Con charging grip
  • Mesh pocket for HDMI cable
  • Hard shell, soft lining
  • All-around zipper

#6Belkin Switch 2 Slim Case with AirTag Holder

$20–$30

9.3/10Picked Rating

This slim Switch 2 case has a hidden pocket for an Apple AirTag, so a case left on a bus or in a hotel room can be tracked down. It holds 12 game cards and has a wristlet handle for carrying it on its own.

Heads up: The AirTag itself is sold separately: the case only has the pocket for one.

A closer look: Slip the AirTag into its pocket before the first trip and give it a clear name in the Find My app so it’s easy to pick out. At 1.8 inches deep it slides into a backpack beside books or a laptop, and the brushed velvet lining helps keep scratches off the screen.

  • Velvet lining
  • Water-resistant polyester outside
  • Hidden no-snag zippers
  • Wristlet handle
  • 2-year coverage
